Schlumberger Technology Centre
Milton Park, Oxfordshire
This research and development building was designed as a turnkey project for developer MEPC and tenant Schlumberger, the multi-national oilfield services corporation.
The building is located at the heart of Milton Park, MEPC's flagship business park near Oxford. It forms part of a wider masterplan designed by the practice for the redevelopment of the central area of the park.
The three-storey building's L-shaped form creates two highly efficient 18m deep office floorplates on each of its three floors. In addition to the office/research accommodation that occupies most of the building, the building also includes an attractive restaurant, a board room, a large divisible seminar space, meeting rooms and a variety of break-out spaces.
Professional Delivery
The project involved both the shell-and-core and fit-out design for developer MEPC who provided a turnkey building to proposed tenant Schlumberger. The design team needed to work effectively for two clients, balancing the development criteria defined by MEPC with the operational requirements and aspirational vision of the tenant.
