High House Production Park
Thurrock
Our masterplan transformed this 14 acre site into an innovative Campus for the creative and cultural industries. The Production Park is a unique concept bringing together national centres of excellence for performing arts production and skills education. The site also provides workspace for creative businesses and artists' studios. The first buildings, designed by NHA include world-class production and costume facilities for the Royal Opera House.
The masterplan aimed to raise the profile of the area, and provide a special and unique place for the community, apprentices, scholars, workers and visitors to enjoy and promote throughout the region and beyond. The various parts of the campus were arranged to encourage community engagement with its various purposes.

High House Production Park is really inspiring and thought provoking (...) we can build on the great success of how this has been done in Thurrock, and how that good practice can be followed in the rest of the country.Harriet Harman, Shadow Minister for Culture, Media and Sport
Sensitive regeneration
The site is at the centre of a major regeneration area and includes a collection of renovated Grade II listed farm buildings and an existing walled garden. One of the key challenges of the masterplan was to preserve the character of the landscape and the setting for the listed buildings whilst maximising the site potential and also enhancing its biodiversity. The farm buildings were converted for community use, a public park was created in the restored walled garden and existing recreational space was enhanced
