Nicholas Hare Architects have been working in partnership with Open-City since 2011, supporting and participating in the charity's Architecture in schools programmes. We have also taken part in Open City's Accelerate into University, a pioneering mentoring programme which enables young people from all backgrounds to access architectural education and to enter the built environment professions.
Over the past 7 month, two of our architects have mentored students from Stoke Newington School and St Paul's Way Trust School in drawing, model making and critical thinking.
Last night, an exhibition in celebration of 45 students' work was held at The Bartlett School of Architecture.
"By raising aspirations and lowering the cultural barriers to getting into university, I hope that over the next few years we will make a real difference to the profession. More importantly, we will gain some very bright and creative young people with new insights and experience of life."
Prof Alan Penn, Dean of the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, UCL
